90 years! Yes – it’s been 90 years since New Eyes’ founder, Julia Lawrence Terry, charted and navigated our mission to provide new eyeglasses to children and adults in the United States. That mission is as relevant today as it was in 1932!
The old adage “the more things change, the more they stay the same” resonates at New Eyes. Over the past 90 years, New Eyes has indeed changed how we provide new eyeglasses to struggling families and individuals, but the need, the reasons, are the very same. Clearing out old files this summer, we found a local journal dated 1941 with an article by Mrs. Terry describing the people she helped :
Those replies could be given this very day. Over the decades, the effect of new eyeglasses and clear vison has remained the same.
New Eyes’ mission is timeless. Clear vision always matters, then and now.
